 Roti is a staple food in many cultures, and there are many different types of roti dishes, such as flatbreads, wraps, and parathas, to name a few. Here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to make plain roti:

Ingredients:

* 1 cup of all-purpose flour

* 1/2 teaspoon of salt

* 1/2 teaspoon of oil

* 1/4 cup of warm water

Directions:

1. Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the center of the flour and pour in the oil and water. Using a whisk, gently mix the wet and dry ingredients until a smooth and slightly sticky dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water, and if it's too wet, add more flour.

2. Knead the dough by hand for a couple of minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment to do the kneading.

3. Form the dough into a ball and cover it with a damp towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rest for at least 15-30 minutes.

4. After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll out each portion into a circular shape using a rolling pin.

5. Heat a tawa or skillet over medium heat. When the pan is hot, place one roll of dough on it. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on one side, or until it starts to form bubbles. Flip it and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

6. Remove the roti from the heat and transfer it to a plate. Repeat with the remaining dough rolls.

7. Serve the roti hot with your favorite dishes, such as curry, dal, or chutneys.

You can customize the dough by adding some herbs or spices to give it a unique flavor. For example, you can add a tablespoon of chopped coriander leaves or a teaspoon of cumin seeds to the dough.

Once you have mastered the basic recipe, you can start exploring other variations of roti, such as paratha, naan, or chapati.
